Scraplifting

Thanks for all the kind comments on the previous blog post!

I have been scrapping with the Echo Park This & That collections for a demo. I had a really hard time with the first layout. I just wasn’t feeling it… But it had to be done, so for the next ones I chose to go with a sketch and a scraplift as starting points:

I found the sketch for this one in the April issue of Scrap365. It’s based on a layout by the editor Katy Fox. The magazine always publishes a couple of sketches in the back of each issue.

Scrap365 also hosts a monthly sketch challenge that you can find on the Sketchbook365 blog. There is still time to enter for the June Sketch Challenge, if you would like to play along. This month you can win a selection of chipboard shapes from Tando Creative.

For the scraplift I browsed through the Studio Calico DT Gallery. It’s hard not to get inspired by all the amazing projects that can be seen over there! This layout by Davinie Fiero caught my eye and I recreated it like this:

I stayed pretty close to the originals and that is something I do not particularly like to do, but in this case it served the purpose: After these two exercises I was good to go! I went on and created two mini books that I will try and photograph once the weather is less gloomy!
